On the Road (Part IV)
Written by Hayden Killian on June 28, 2011 – 9:31 am10:00AM Now that we are traveling east, the cross wind makes for a certain challenge more so for my husband in the truck than for me. Still it’s not entirely enjoyable to fight against the wind for what will surely be the next few hours. Thankfully, it’s still sunny with no apparent threats of inclement weather.
10:30AM Nausea strikes again! I’m not surprised. Almonds and strawberries to the rescue. Our son is still sleeping which I can’t imagine will last much longer, and it doesn’t within a few minutes he’s awakes and my sister immediately gives him some crackers and strawberries. This seems to keep him happily entertained for the time being.
11:30AM As it approaches noon, we are also approaching our next big highway change. First we have to make our way through a fairly large city. With several lanes of traffic to contend with for the next thirty minutes or so, I try to hold position in a middle lane so that we can more easily move either right or left for the exist that I know is coming hopefully soon. My husband is following close behind. It seems to take longer to get through the city than I remembered, but soon enough we see the the signs indicating that our exist is to the left.
12:30PM We made it through the city and we are happily traveling north again. My son has decided that it would be a fun game to through crackers at my sister and I in the front. So I do what any hungry pregnant woman would do and I eat the crackers he throws, there’s no reason not to eat them. Still a few crackers will not quell my hunger for long … or at all. Since it’s officially lunch time. We find an exit with the sandwich shop we want to eat at and make the stop for lunch.
1:30PM After enjoying a lunch of various different sandwiches, that we had to eat in the truck because there wasn’t any seating in the gas station/sandwich shop, we gassed up both vehicles and were on our way heading north once again. We are excited to cross the state line in the next few hours.
(To be continued ….)
