Early facelift leads to scarring
Written by Blake McSharry on December 13, 2011 – 11:45 amQ. I am a 34-year-old woman who had a bad facelift. I have horrible scars around and behind my ears. What do you think went wrong? I have had other surgeries and I have never had bad scars before. Is there something I can do to improve my situation?
What were you thinking having a facelift at 34? More importantly, what was your surgeon thinking doing your surgery at such a young age?
Facelift surgery is not normally done on patients your age. Exceptions might be massive weight loss secondary to bariatric surgery, an illness or a congenital deformity.
Because you likely did not need the surgery, your surgeon had to put an excessive amount of tension on closing your skin.

Family Meals Discourage Fussy Eaters
Written by Blake McSharry on November 29, 2011 – 11:29 pm
Growing up my family ate dinners together nearly every evening. No matter how busy we were, my mom and dad found time to sit down at the table as a family. And though I was never a fussy eater, minus the obvious choices like liver and overcooked okra, I never connected it to the family meals of my childhood.
Well it appears I should have. New research presented at the Developmental Psychology Section Annual Conference, to be held at Northumbria University Newcastle this month, links family dinners to discouraging fussy eating.

Sharing HOPE
Written by Blake McSharry on November 20, 2011 – 10:51 amI have a bunch of updates about Christmas Crazy coming very soon. First, though, I wanted to share something from Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center.
If you’ll recall, Crazy Scary, the Christmas Crazy fundraiser held at ScareHouse, happened back in October. Together we raised $3,000 for the Christmas Crazy fund. Every penny of that money was sent directly to Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center so that they can provide a better Christmas for the children who benefit from the services they provide. That piece of Christmas Crazy was “broken off” for a lot of reasons, but what I don’t want to lose in that separation is the impact that $3,000 will have.
There’s just one thing–safety concerns and privacy issues have to come first when it comes to kids who are affected by domestic violence.
