Too Few Adults Vaccinated Against Whooping Cough: CDC
Written by admin on October 11, 2010 – 3:10 pm
THURSDAY, Oct. 14 (HealthDay News) — Recent outbreaks of whooping cough highlight the need for adults to be vaccinated against this highly contagious disease, U.S. health officials said Thursday.
Not only does vaccination protect adults against the disease, it reduces the odds that they will pass on an illness that can be life-threatening to those most at risk: infants who haven’t finished their full vaccination series, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
A whooping cough outbreak this year in California has already sickened more than 5,270 infants and killed nine, the agency reported.

Does the Bible Really have all Parenting Answers?
Written by admin on October 11, 2010 – 8:23 am
It seems as though the Bible needs some revising.
It states to go forth and multiply, as though the Earth needs more humans to span this great globe. What bothers me is the thought that this is still common practice among a vast majority of religious families as if they all still live on farms and rely heavily on the “hands” to keep things thriving.
Why hasn’t there been a question thrown at any family over 4 children as to why they felt compelled to have that many children when they already had one or two healthy ones?

Johnny Depp Answers Girl’s Letter, Visits School
Written by admin on October 4, 2010 – 12:18 pm
In one of the best stories I have read in a few weeks, Johnny Depp showed up at a school in Greenwich, England, today in response to a letter from a 9-year-old girl. The girl wrote Johnny that she needed his help because she wanted to organize a mutiny against her teachers.

Well, with just ten minutes’ notice to the school, Johnny showed up in full Pirates Of The Caribbean costume along with other cast members from the movie.Johnny spent 15 minutes performing for the students and dancing with fellow cast members.

Stop using infant sleep positioners, government warns

One of the main types of infant sleep positioners are flat mats with side bolsters. Tweet 0 Comments
WASHINGTON — Those soft fabric sleep positioners that parents put in the crib to keep babies safely sleeping on their backs could be dangerous, even deadly, for little ones, the federal government warned Wednesday.
Citing 12 deaths, the Food and Drug Administration and the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the positioners are not safe and that parents, caregivers and others should not use them at all because of a suffocation risk.
The babies, ranging in age from one to four months, died when they suffocated in the positioner or became trapped between the positioner and the side of a crib and then suffocated.
