Four Cheese Crockpot Lasagna

There was method to my madness when I began posting recipes regularly here. Someday, I hope this entire site is a gift full of memories of Alexis’ childhood, and somewhere in there should be the recipes for the foods of her childhood. Some of the recipes she won’t need because she will have seen the meals prepared so many times that she will know them without reference (Vegetable Paella comes to mind–I make it nearly weekly). Others are special treats that are only made on rare occasion.

This one I fully expect will turn into one that grown-up Alexis makes constantly. She’ll probably hold it over her kids’ heads, too. “When I was a kid, grandma almost never made this for me.

The Beachwaver is a curling iron that gives you gorgeous beachy-waves- the kind all the A-listers do- and takes the guess work out of which way to turn the iron to get the perfect curl (sometimes looking in the mirror, I get confused on which way to rotate the iron).

Teaching children to be mindful

The thought of asking a classroom full of second-graders to sit still, breathe deeply and be aware of their feelings may sound like a near impossible feat, but at Miami Country Day School children are doing just that.

Lets bloom like a flower, Hope Stern beseeched her 7- and 8-year-olds standing in a cluster in the middle of the classroom. Clad in red-and-blue school uniforms, the 15 or so boys and girls slowly stretched their arms up and out as they watched a video guiding them on meditation. On the wall behind them, geometric-shaped, hand-colored paper mandalas representing the universe in the Buddhist faith were pinned up on a bulletin board.

Frankie Edgar receives rematch with Benson Henderson

Without a single knockout loss on his record some might say UFC lightweight Frankie Edgar has a “hard head”. However, it was that very quality earning him a second crack at champion Benson Henderson, as Edgar’s refusal to drop down to featherweight played a significant role in the UFC’s decision to schedule a rematch between the two talented 155ers despite having fought less than three weeks ago at UFC 144.

No specific date is set but the scrap is likely to be scheduled for this summer as a means of giving the competitors a chance to fully heal from their February fight in addition to allowing an upcoming bout between Jim Miller-Nate Diaz to determine the next man in line for a shot at the belt.
